Mentorship Opportunities

Cyversity ($100USD/year, $20USD/year students/Veterans - 16 week 1:1 mentorship)

From their website:

“The International Consortium of Minority Cybersecurity Professionals (ICMCP) was founded to address a stark reality: the cybersecurity industry suffered from a severe lack of diversity, particularly in the representation of women and minorities. This underrepresentation created a "cyber divide" that limited the industry's talent pool and potential. As ICMCP's impact and reach grew, the organization rebranded itself as Cyversity in 2021. This new name better reflected its commitment to building a diverse and inclusive cybersecurity workforce.”

Jen’s personal recommendation:

I’ve been a part of 4 rounds of mentorship through Cyversity:

1 as a group mentee to one mentor
2 as a 1-on-1 mentee to a mentor
1 as a mentor to a mentee

I’ve really enjoyed the program and have grown through it, meeting some amazing people both in CTI and in adjacent disciplines. To that point, your mentor is not guaranteed to be in CTI. I highly recommend Cyversity not only for their mentorship program, but their communities and events that bring together practitioners from all over cybersecurity!

The Diana Initiative (Free? Don’t quote me on that - CFP and presentation mentorships)

From their website:

“We wish to provide mentorship to help new and prospective speakers hone their ability to craft good CFPs, and for accepted speakers to improve their presentation making and talk giving skill sets. We want our mentees to leave the program with skills applicable to any conference they wish to apply to in the future.”
